You should get a clinic

Previously, I have adored Ely Buendia and Francis M.'s ILAW album. I also have specified that I would willingly listen to Wasak Waltz anytime of the day.

I have watched the teaser video and it served its purpose, I waited patiently. Sir Ely becomes a doctor in this music video/nirvana. Will look online where his clinic might be.

Charice and Pempengco on Glee Season 2!

One of the few things the Philippines is internationally recognized for are its child singers and as Charice Pempengco's small frame resonated awe-inspiring notes on Oprah, I was pretty proud. I even started singing myself and realized later that not because Charice is Filipino, every Filipino can sing. I'm a little racist at that, I guess.

Now that she's casted on Glee, I can't wait to finish the episode! I'm already on the start credits and I saw this:

Every other cast had their names spelled out, even if it covered Sue's face except Charice'. We need international recognition for our crazy last names too!

Oh, its Lady Gaga and she's wearing a meat dress to the MTV Video Awards

photo from Nicola Formichetti

When you think she had ran out of ideas, when you think she has outdone herself enough and when you think that another of her shock-attacks would be much less corrupting than before, here is Lady Gaga, fabulous in a meat dress, wearing meat shoes, with bacon on top of her head and looking like she could use some more. The MTV Video Music awards was shaken.

She said it wasn't an insult to the vegetarians and that she had her own explanation with her ready-to-wear slaughter house but Ellen DeGeneres, a vegetarian, couldn't help but give her a vegetable bikini anyway.

In my opinion, it would be impossible that it was real meat. Although the sanity of Lady Gaga is questionable (who cares, she's a rare gem), I still believe she is hygienic and siding your body temperature with raw meat bites is really nasty and stinky, plus I don't believe that the Nokia Theater could have allowed her leaving bloodstains everywhere.

She won 8 awards. Eminem, the second biggest winner, took home only two awards. She's really about bringing the bacon here.

I have the Eraserheads Box Set and I will tell you its components and why you need it.

Fieldtrips to the past

Yesterday, I grabbed myself the Eraserheads Box Set and apart from a majestic, silver-design adorned "The Heads" shirt, a metal box that brings back memories of school with bring-your-own-lunch policies, and a tearjerky photobook of the band (Eraserheads and their music in visual art) is a gigantic collection of 11 CDs.

I also bought Youngblood 2.0 from Inquirer Books. Its a collection of the 70 best essays from the youth of 1976-1977, published in the groundbreaking Youngblood coloumn of the Inquirer. I've been eyeing the book for so long and getting the box set, it was a sign that today was scheduled to fulfill material desires.

Like a box of pure joy

Pictured above is a box and its contents representing the happiness of age-confused teens living in the world full of absurdities - which can actually be written in pleasing, even happiness-inducing soundtracks of Pinoy life. I love the Eraserheads and this box set was made to make every fan happy.

Weird

What's common with these two videos?

Video no. 1 features 16-yr old Margaret Ortega, Filipina, and the winner among the  2,000 plus contestants in Hong Kong's American Idol equivalent, Star Power.

Video no. 2 Neon Lights- Rico Blanco. Number one in Hong Kong's music charts.

Music doesn't take grudges. If we only talked in notes and moved in beats. Really weird.

Wasak Waltz

I was born into consciousness when the Eraserheads (the band, not the music) was already history.

Introduced to their music by a good friend, I got hooked instantly. There was once a time in my life where that friend and I lay down on a cold, tiled floor while the sound system was playing Ligaya. There, we contemplated on how unlucky we are that we live in the time of the post-Eraserhead revolution. It was depressing as hell.

Depression was only cured by the fact that all the members are still alive and kicking and are still making music.

One particular song is currently on my replay. Its Wasak Waltz, track number 8 in Ely Buendia's (Vocalist of Eraserheads) and Francis M.'s (pioneer Pinoy rapper) album I.L.A.W. (In Love And War). Listen to it and I promise you, you'll feel happier immediately after. It is a certified ear canal drug.

UPDATE: A friend told me that Sir Ely Buendia would be shooting a music video for Wasak Waltz. I saw the tweet and he sure knows how to keep his fans happy. I will be watching out!

Authentic Pinoy Music c/o Grace Nono

Grace Nono's Padayon

Anungan:

Alejandro Music Video, the real thing!

Many non-believers thought Lady Gaga would do a Madonna 'Vogue' rip-off with all the B and W leaked photos.

They just got served. When did Madonna ever rape a dozen chained boys? Or carried a chained heart on a snow funeral? Or even sang about Mexicans? Or supported 'arinola' haircuts? Or digested all the beads of a rosary?

This is a reason why I love Lady Gaga: surprising. Its the thrill that keeps me going.

P.S. Ely Buendia, I'm still a fan. Lady Gaga plus you will be the nearest thing to perfection humanity will ever have.

So your ears are hungry?

I'll feed it with Travie McCoy and reggae-rap fusion.

Watching the video is optional, audio required.

Just a reminder

in techno:

I received news from a very questionable source that the Eraserheads box set is to be sold on June 11, 2010. Lady Gaga's Alejandro music video will be release 4 days before the box set. See, June can also be a happy month.

I Hate P-Pop

A P-pop (Pinoy pop) band called 'XLR8' pronounced as 'accelerate' (Jejemon alert) just released its first self-titled album. All I can say is that THEY CAN SUCK IT!

I had a rush of hate the first time I saw the album. It was coincidentally reclining on the shelves besides Super Junior's album which looks like this:

Compare the pictures and sniff with me the pungent smell of 'plagiarism'.

The Philippines has talent but it seems to be scarce in originality. Is the Pinoy pop group scene confident they can steal the show by copying other works? Again, they can suck it.

Dancing On Peace

The least likely people to do a remake of Lady Gaga are tough guys but the internet would not be what it is without its defiance of limits. So here is a remake of Telephone starring on mission soldiers from Afghanistan. No joke.

According to the description of the video, this is not the final cut. Lady Gaga is taking over. I never knew Lady Gaga and the Vikings had much alike.

When Luck Loves You

I just bought a double cover back issue of Myx Mag Phils. I was so lucky, given I bought a magazine feauturing 3 of my favorite artists. Pupil, Sandwich and Lady Gaga (in no particular order). Judging by the facts, I could have won a lottery that day.

To top it all up, I only had to pay 30 Pesos for the package.

New Music Album

Shown in this video is the album cover, just in case you can't read. Click the sleeping rectangle to hear the first song in the album.

I just bought Ely Buendia's Wanted: Bedspacer album. Its an original copy because the thought of downloading a knock-off, subpar album from an Eraserheads member is just awful.

The album has 10 songs. I never heard of their lyrics before so I'm 90% sure they are new songs. I kind of see techno in it, a dash of indie and a sparkle of true music, a new solo artist named Ely. Its music that wasn't made for the audience but was made for the urge of making it.

This is supposed to be a review of the album but its hard criticizing an album which happened to be my dream, a techno, indie Ely. My suggestion is you buy it and be happy with me.

If you live in Iloilo, you can buy the album at the second floor, upper ground floor whatever of the mall. Some people who are still raising funds tend to hide this album behind April Boy's music. Be sure to dig well!

CATS: Now and Forever

I am a giant fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber, the father or co-parent of Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat and of course, the classic Cats, among other masterpieces (like Jesus Christ Superstar:-). After I heard that the producers of this broadway hit will be putting up a limited run performance headed by Lea Salonga as Grizabella in CCP, I craved for Google.

Here is the first song of the musical featuring the DVD cast.

I did a little research and found information you will need if you want to watch the musical.

If you don't want to watch it, please try to convince yourself that you want to watch it. The chance to watch Cats doesn't come everyday or even every decade here in the Philippines. Its only proper to take advantage of this amazing opportunity to know all the Jellicles. Its pretty obvious I worship this musical.

Eraserheads Box Set!

Last year, around September, news broke out of the formulation of a box set consisted of all the albums of Eraserheads. A few weeks after it was confirmed and the box set was targeted to sell out March 2010. Now its April and finally, I made myself understand I have to wait some more for the set.

First of all, I am a 16 year old giant fan of the Eraserheads. Last year, the Eheads were just another old band I didn't care about until I got hold of a copy of their music. It was nighttime and it felt like I have memorized all the songs on my computer. I listened to Toyang, got interested and listened to Fruitcake, after sometime, I was in a live concert, happily dying in front of the Eheads. I was in love with their music because anyone can easily imagine theme selves in it. Every song can easily be about you and it feels good.

I am religiously checking NU107's website which is supposed to be the first one to blog about the release of the blog set. There are still no photos or updated info about the box set and the latest is the fan photo contest, where your photo with the Eheads can be included in the box set, which ended March 5, 2010.

So for now, I am totally clueless of what is happening in the creation of the phenomenal box set which was supposed to be release last week of March. Waiting is not one my favorite things to do and waiting for a treasure box of your idols is purgatory. Only a backstage pass to The Fame Monster can make me feel happier now that I remembered all about the box set I heard about last September.
